Year 2000 Transition Smooth Sailing for Atlanta Gas Light Company No Y2K-Related Issues Crop Up During Rollover Period

ATLANTA, GEORGIA - For almost three years, Atlanta Gas Light Company planned, tested, fixed and planned even more for the transition into the Year 2000. The company experienced no Y2K-related incidents in the delivery of natural gas to its customers.

"We are very pleased with the results of our Y2K-efforts. While we were prepared to address any issues that might have cropped up, the transition was smooth and turned out to be a 'non-event'," said Michael Hutchins, vice president of engineering for Atlanta Gas Light and director of the company's Year 2000 Coordination Center.

AGLC began its Y2K work in 1996 and during that time more than 80 critical and non-critical applications were tested, 25 applications were replaced or eliminated and more than 2,000 key suppliers and vendors were contacted regarding Y2K readiness. By the middle of January 2000, the company will have spent over $8 million on Y2K readiness.
