AGL Resources To Move To Midtown Building

Ten Peachtree Place will house AGL Resources and subsidiaries Atlanta Gas Light Company and AGL Networks

ATLANTA - AGL Resources Inc. (NYSE: ATG) will be taking over most of a Midtown office building next year, a move that will allow the Atlanta-based gas distribution and energy company to consolidate its area operations and staff. Seventeen floors comprising approximately 200,000 square feet at Ten Peachtree Place will become home to 550 AGL Resources employees. The move into the new headquarters is planned for the first quarter of 2003.

"We conducted an exhaustive search for the right headquarters building for our company and its employees," said Melanie M. Platt, senior vice president of AGL Resources. "It is important that we consolidate our people, and this move will enable us to achieve cost and resource efficiencies. We also want to help our hometown of Atlanta with one of its goals, reducing traffic congestion. By locating next to a MARTA station, we are encouraging our employees to use public transportation."

Platt pledged that AGL Resources "will be a good corporate neighbor in the dynamic Midtown community."

AGL Resources and its telecommunications subsidiary AGL Networks currently occupy two floors of the historic Biltmore in Midtown. Since 1929, Atlanta Gas Light Company has been housed in several buildings on its 34-acre Caroline Street campus in the Little Five Points section of Atlanta. That site has been sold to The Sembler Company. After moving all of its Atlanta-based companies to the new headquarters, AGL Resources will lease less office space on a square footage basis than is currently utilized at the combined Biltmore and Caroline Street properties.

Mary McGovern, executive director of The Clean Air Campaign, noted that "by selecting Ten Peachtree Place as its new home, AGL Resources is doing its part to promote a cleaner environment. AGL Resources was determined to select a headquarters building accessible to transit. These are the values the Clean Air Campaign is trying to communicate to metro employers."

AGL Resources has hired Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum to assist with the design of the new office.
