ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 2004--Atlanta Gas Light and WSB Radio announced today the call for nominations for the 2004 Shining Light Award.
Established in 1963, this prestigious award recognizes an outstanding Georgian who has inspired the lives of others through community service. Past recipients include: former Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson, former United Nations Ambassador Andrew Young; Atlanta businessman and philanthropist J.B. Fuqua; baseball legend Hank Aaron; former Georgia Governor Zell Miller; and former United States president Jimmy Carter, to name a few.
To nominate an individual, submit a letter of no more than two pages by September 30 to Nick Gold, AGL Resources, P.O. Box 4569, Atlanta, Ga. 30302. (Or email NGold@AGLResources.com.) Nominees must be residents of Georgia who have made outstanding contributions to the community. At a special celebration later this year, a continuously burning gas light and bronze plaque will be erected at a place of the recipient's choosing as a lasting tribute to their achievements.
