Atlanta Gas Light Joins Alternative Fuel Vehicle Roadshow to Promote Natural Gas
ATLANTA – June 6, 2014 – Atlanta Gas Light will join several other energy companies to promote the benefits of alternative fuels for transportation at the fourth annual Alternative Fuel Vehicle Roadshow.
The mission of the eight-city tour, which begins on June 17, is to educate fleet operators on the substantial, long-term cost advantages that energy sources, such as natural gas, offer over petroleum-based fuels.
“The roadshow is an excellent opportunity to showcase natural gas and all that it has to offer for the future of alternative fuel vehicles,” said Bryan Batson, president of Atlanta Gas Light. “Natural gas utilities continue to play a key role in the nation’s new energy landscape, and platforms like this go a long way in strengthening our position. These educational conversations add value to our ability to promote natural gas as an alternative fuel.”

- Tuesday, June 17 | 9 a.m.– noon | Atlanta-Fulton County | Hosted by Georgia International Convention Center
- Wednesday, June 18 | 9 a.m.– noon | Columbia County | Hosted by Evans Government Center

Ian Skelton, director of natural gas vehicles for Atlanta Gas Light, will highlight significant infrastructure developments and discuss the support AGL has received from the Georgia Public Service Commission to stimulate investments in compressed natural gas (CNG) and promote economic development in Georgia.
“The Georgia PSC, under the leadership of Commissioner Doug Everett, has championed alternative fuel sources in Georgia,” said Georgia Public Service Commissioner Tim Echols. “The widespread support demonstrated by private-public partnerships has led to the documented success of compressed natural gas stations throughout the state.”
AGL has taken a leading role in expanding the use of natural gas for a number of fleet vehicle applications. It continues to work with companies like Langdale Fuels, Premier Transportation and MARTA that have ramped up their investments in CNG infrastructure and vehicles. The company also has worked with local governments such as DeKalb County on projects to convert landfill methane to a renewable source of CNG and is assisting the city of Atlanta to convert its refuse vehicles to CNG.
