Atlanta Gas Light Appliance Relief Program

Atlanta Gas Light wants to help repair or replace your natural gas equipment!

For a limited time, you may be eligible to be reimbursed* for the repair or replacement costs of your natural gas equipment.

Reimbursements up to $500 will be made for the repair of qualified natural gas equipment or up to $3,500 for the replacement of similar natural gas equipment.

To qualify, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be served by Atlanta Gas Light and have been issued a warning tag by an Atlanta Gas Light field service representative between March 1, 2020 and August 15, 2020 for one of the following qualified natural gas appliances:

    Natural gas furnace, natural gas space heater, natural gas water heater, natural gas range, or natural gas dryer.

  • Service address must be in one of the following zip codes:
    30070, 30151, 30297, 30310, 30314,
    30315, 30354, 30401, 30453, 30457,
    30471, 30601, 30828, 30901, 30906,

  • Replacements must be a similar natural gas appliance.

  • Repair or replacement of your qualified natural gas appliance must have been completed by a licensed contractor.

To receive your reimbursement*, follow these easy steps:

  • Your first and last name, service address, mailing address (if different than service address), phone number, email address, digital copy or photo of your contractor receipt

  • Please allow for 8-10 weeks for the receipt of your reimbursement check.

*Reimbursement funds are limited and will be distributed on a first come basis.

Atlanta Gas Light Appliance Relief Program (the “Relief Program”) – Terms and Conditions

  1. About:  Atlanta Gas Light is offering a residential reimbursement program for the costs of repair or replacement of eligible natural gas appliance as defined in Section 4 (“Eligible Appliance”) or customer fuel line and subject to the limitations set herein. Reimbursement applies to an Eligible Appliance or a customer fuel line that has been marked with a warning card by an Atlanta Gas Light field service representative in the Relief Program area as specified in Section 4. The reimbursement is non-transferrable and may not be used at a different address than targeted by the offer, for a different appliance not under the appliance relief program, or for a different reason not under the Relief Program.

  2. Eligibility: The Eligible Appliance or customer fuel line must have been marked with a qualifying warning card with a covered code between March 1, 2020 and August 15, 2020 and repair or replacement of the natural gas appliance or customer fuel line must be/have been made between March 1, 2020 and December 15, 2020 in the Relief Program area.  Repair or Replacement must be complete before applying for reimbursement. Appliance warning card reasons covered under the Relief Program are as follows:  Appliance not working properly, appliance water/flood damaged, clean burner/appliance, defective gauge, dryers exhausting into chimney, improper appliance installation, improper appliance shut-off valve, improper appliance venting, improper draft diverter, improper flame, spillage sooting, improper relief valve installation, improper second stage regulator, improper sediment trap, improperly installed space heater, inadequate combustion air, leak in appliance, missing doors on appliance, open fuel line, piping in circulated air duct, plastic tubing used indoors, possible bad safety device, possible cracked/obstructed heat exchanger, possible defective thermocouple, possible defective thermostat, return duct in with furnace, T/P plugged or capped, won't light/stay lit, leak in appliance connection, and leak in customer fuel line.  The repair or replacement of the Eligible Appliance or customer fuel line must be performed by a Georgia contractor licensed and certified to install natural gas equipment. Eligible Appliance or customer fuel line installation must be completed in compliance with manufacturer specifications and all applicable laws, regulations and building codes imposed by federal, state and local authorities.  Premise must be a residential customer and have an active account in good standing on the Atlanta Gas Light distribution system.  Reimbursement claims may only be submitted by individuals above the age of majority in the State of Georgia and reimbursement submittals must be postmarked no later than December 20, 2020.

  3. Reimbursement: The total Relief Program reimbursement funds are limited to a maximum of $200,000 and will be distributed on a first-come first-serve basis until the earlier of December 31, 2020 or until all funds are depleted as set forth further herein. Reimbursements will be paid out at actual repair costs up to a maximum of $500 for Eligible Appliance repair, code compliance upgrade, or repair of the customer fuel line or replacement costs up to a maximum of $3,500 for a similar Eligible Appliance replacement.  The reimbursement form must be submitted directly to Atlanta Gas Light at Atlanta Gas Light, Appliance Relief Program, 10 Peachtree Place NE, Bin 110, Atlanta, GA 30309 and supporting documentation must be emailed or postmarked to the address set forth in the online submission form. Homeowners are responsible for submitting reimbursement requests directly to Atlanta Gas Light within the timeframe established for the program.  Please allow at least eight weeks after your completed claim (including supporting documentation as required per offer) is received to receive your reimbursement. Reimbursements will be paid by check in U.S. dollars.  May not be combined with any other AGL low income appliance program.

  4. Eligible Appliances and Relief Program Area:  Offer valid for the following natural gas appliances:  natural gas water heater, natural gas tankless water heater, natural gas central heater, natural gas floor furnace, natural gas space heater, natural gas room heater, natural gas ovens, natural gas range, natural gas surface unit, natural gas dryer (the “Eligible Appliances”), or customer fuel line. Offer valid for the following zip codes:  30070, 30151, 30297, 30310, 30314, 30315, 30354, 30401, 30453, 30457, 30471, 30601, 30828, 30901, 30906, 31035, 31063, 31089, 31096, 31201, 31204, 31206, 31217, 31402, 31408, 31415, 31501, 31503, 31520, 31601, 31634, 31635 (“Relief Program area”).

  5. Additional Limitations.  Offer valid for pre-existing homes, condominiums, or townhouses in the Atlanta Gas Light service territories in the Atlanta Gas Light Appliance Relief Program area. Offer not valid for new construction.   Dealers, retailers, installers, maintenance personnel, and landlords are not eligible to participate in this offer.

  6. Miscellaneous.  Atlanta Gas Light is not responsible for lost, late, damaged, postage due, mis-delivered or misdirected mail and incomplete or illegible submissions. All entries become the property of Atlanta Gas Light. Atlanta Gas Light reserves the right to withdraw or terminate this offer at any time upon reasonable notice posted on our website at www.atlantagaslight.com/appliancerelief and providing notice that clearly communicates funds have been depleted or modifying an end date for purchases. You must provide all the information requested in the online submission form and deliver supporting documentation as required in order, including a copy of receipt for the repair or replacement of the Eligible Appliance or customer fuel line. Incomplete entries will not be processed and will not be returned.  Atlanta Gas Light reserves the right to substantiate receipts, serial numbers and installation information, and to request additional documentation. Physical inspection for verification of claims may be required. Eligible Appliance may not be returned for full purchase price once the reimbursement has been fulfilled. Event rebate offer expires for this submission if reimbursement check is not cashed within 90 days of check date. By submitting a claim, you consent to Atlanta Gas Light’s collection, use and disclosure of the information contained in it, together with any information you may subsequently provide to us, to any person or entity for the purpose of processing this form or responding to your requests and for internal business purposes in accordance with our privacy policy. Our use of your information is governed by our privacy policy that can be found at www.atlantagaslight.com. If multiple purchases that qualify for reimbursement offers are on the same receipt, please include supporting documentation for each offer. To check the status of your reimbursement, you can email us at ApplianceRelief@southernco.com. Atlanta Gas Light is in no way responsible for the installation, quality of installation, or quality of Eligible Appliance for which you submit a reimbursement claim. Any concerns regarding installation should be directed to your installer, and any concerns regarding Eligible Appliances should be directed to the manufacturer, retailer or dealer from which you purchased it. Keep a copy of your submission for future reference. Offer void where prohibited by law.
