At Atlanta Gas Light (AGL), we’re committed to keeping our customers informed of what we are doing in the communities we serve. We recently launched a public awareness campaign called “Energy for a Growing Georgia,” to inform our customers of ongoing investments in natural gas pipeline infrastructure that will help maintain safe and reliable service while continuing to meet the energy demands of a growing Georgia.
To help facilitate the pipeline infrastructure program, AGL is seeking approval from the Georgia Public Service Commission for up to $535 million in funding over the next three years. In addition to improving our energy infrastructure, our pipeline investments also will stimulate the economy by helping create hundreds of jobs right here in Georgia for the skilled craftsmen needed to work on the pipeline projects.
Atlanta Gas Light has invested more than $2 billion on new energy infrastructure since 1998 but even with those major investments, we have continued to maintain rate adjustments on the average customer bill below the rate of inflation. In addition, these investments have allowed us to bring America’s abundant, affordable and environmentally friendly natural gas to several new communities in Georgia, while also helping to maintain the safety and reliability of our vast existing system.
More than 20 years ago, we became one of the first gas utilities in the nation to begin a comprehensive pipeline replacement program that became a model for utilities across the country.
