Atlanta Gas Light, in collaboration with the Atlanta Area Council - Scouting America and the National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project, recently welcomed more than 50 high school students to its Riverdale campus for an energy-focused learning experience.

During the daylong program, students in grades 9-12 interested in Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) pathways received a firsthand look at clean energy, energy efficiency and conservation through interactive sessions and demonstrations. Students also toured “Gas Town,” the company’s technical training center, for a behind-the-scenes look at how energy professionals are trained.

Encouraging the next generation of STEM leaders, the workshop featured a panel discussion on careers in energy with company employees and work-based learning interns. The discussion was moderated by Walt Farrell, president and CEO of Atlanta Gas Light.

“Inspiring students to learn about the value of natural gas and careers in the energy industry is a year-round commitment for Atlanta Gas Light,” Farrell said. “For 170 years, we’ve understood that Georgia’s success requires preparing the next generation for the workforce. We’re proud to work with organizations like The NEED Project and Scouting America to connect students to real-world energy careers and hands-on learning opportunities across the communities we serve.”
