Atlanta Gas Light supports JROTC at Augusta area high school still returning to normal almost two years after Hurricane Helene

When United Way of the CSRA recently needed volunteers in the Augusta area to help clean up Lakeside High School’s JROTC training grounds, Atlanta Gas Light team members stepped up.

Becoming aware of the continuing need, volunteers from the Augusta region came together with a shared purpose, spending the day restoring the JROTC range and clearing fallen trees and debris nearly two years after Hurricane Helene. They used chainsaws and other equipment to help bring the training space back to life.

For Atlanta Gas Light volunteers, the effort was about more than cleanup. It was about assisting and uplifting our future leaders. By restoring the training grounds, team members supported a collaborative space where cadets build discipline, teamwork and leadership skills that will serve them for years to come.

The improvements will also help students reach their full potential by expanding access to the resources needed.
