Atlanta Gas Light's 11th annual Charity Golf Tournament raised $250,000 to support three Georgia nonprofits: the American Heart Association, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. The funds will help fuel programs and services focused on education, critical health care initiatives and youth development across the state.
Since its inception, Atlanta Gas Light's charity golf tournament has raised a record $2.2 million for nonprofit organizations statewide. This year's event carries added significance as Atlanta Gas Light celebrates 170 years of serving Georgians, highlighting the company's dedication to championing organizations that make a meaningful difference where its customers live and work.
“This annual tournament reflects our commitment to driving positive change,” said Walt Farrell, president and CEO of Atlanta Gas Light. “For 170 years, we have had the privilege of serving Georgia's homes, businesses and communities. We are equally committed to making a positive difference beyond the work we do. Our legacy is built on delivering the energy our customers count on, and that energy also means being a good neighbor and investing in the places we call home.”
From promoting heart health and providing specialized pediatric care to preparing young people for future success, each organization plays a vital role in addressing the needs of Georgia's families and communities.
Through research, education, advocacy and community outreach, the American Heart Association has helped millions of people live healthier lives and has transformed how cardiovascular disease is prevented and treated.
For more than 75 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta has inspired young people across the Central Savannah River Area to reach their full potential, helping them build the skills and confidence needed to succeed. Today, the organization serves youth in five counties through 11 club sites.
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Georgia's only freestanding pediatric health care system, is a trusted leader in caring for kids. The nonprofit organization's mission is to make kids better today and healthier tomorrow through more than 60 pediatric specialties and programs, top health care professionals, and leading research and technology.
“Thanks to the generosity of our employees, partners and volunteers, these outstanding organizations can continue creating opportunities and providing critical services that help fuel our communities. That’s why events like this matter,” Farrell said.
As one of the state's oldest corporations, Atlanta Gas Light's charity golf tournament highlights the power of giving back and a shared commitment to helping organizations build a brighter future for those most in need.
