Bill Payment Assistance for Residential Customers

We believe everyone has the right to clean, safe and reliable natural gas. If you're worried about paying your bill or missing a payment due to financial hardship, explore the available assistance funds through the below programs and agencies. Programs We Offer

United Way

Dial 211 or (404) 614-1000 to speak with a representative from the Georgia United Way Referral Center to learn about organizations in your area that can provide financial aid and other assistance for your basic needs.. 

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps eligible customers pay their bill through grants that don’t need to be repaid. Open enrollment begins first working day in December for senior citizens (65 and older) and the first working day in January for all other eligible residents. Call 404-657-3427 or 404-657-3426.

Senior Citizens Discount Program

Customers 65 years of age or older who have total annual combined household income of 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines ($31,920) or less, may qualify for a monthly discount of up to $14 off their base charge. Natural gas service must be in the customer's name to be eligible. For additional information, please view this fact sheet (English & Spanish). Regulated Provider: SCANA Energy

The SCANA Energy Regulated Division provides service to low-income households that have been unable to obtain or maintain service from another marketer. Qualifying consumers can purchase their natural gas at a rate regulated by the Georgia Public Service Commission

HopeWorks (for seniors 60 or older)

Seniors 60 and older may qualify for a gas furnace or water heater repair from HopeWorks.

  • You must own and be living in the home.
  • You must meet program financial guidelines. 
  • You must purchase natural gas from a Georgia Public Service Commission-approved natural gas marketer.

Low-Income Weatherization Assistance Program

Atlanta Gas Light provides funding to community action agencies to deliver home weatherization products and resources through its Energy Efficiency Program at no cost to qualifying customers.

This weatherization work includes assessing a low-income resident’s home and may involve improvements such as air sealing and insulation, as well as furnace and water heater repair or replacement.

Eligibility and participation are determined solely by local government agencies based on criteria such as income. Atlanta Gas Light does not participate in program eligibility decisions or the administration of services. We provide this information for informational purposes only, to help customers connect with available resources.
